A lie repeated over and over....

Canadian-born Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer admitted as much before the first "assault weapon" ban went into effect in 1994:

"The 'assault weapons ban' will have no effect either on the crime rate or on personal security. ... Its only real justification is not to reduce crime but to desensitize the public to the regulation of (all) weapons in preparation for their ultimate confiscation."

Last year's Supreme Court ruling in Heller v. D.C. that the Second Amendment right to own firearms is an individual one may crimp confiscation plans, but the current set of lies being told in order to achieve renewed restrictions goes on.

If you care even slightly for the right to keep and bear arms, you'll go read the whole article.

These bastards have the fear factor down to a science. I'm an NRA Certified Pistol instructor, and talk A LOT about bad gun laws, safety, etc., at family gatherings. My own mother believes the crap she reads in the paper and sees on the TV.

I swear, she says, "They wouldn't put it on TV if it weren't true, Michael." I just want to scream.

The NRA, et al, need to use the same tactics, or we're going to lose. It is all about the sizzle, and less about the steak. They need to SELL gun freedom by using the same tool the grabbers use - fear.

My own brother, who has been an ethusiastic shooter and gun owner his entire sixty-five years, recently told me that he saw no reason why anyone needed an assault rifle!

He also watches CNN.

If you put in mild context without any future planning, I don't NEED an assault rifle. Thats not to say I shouldn't have one or even be restricted from having one if that were my Desire. Our Founders were quite clear(at least so long as you don't have an Ivy league education)
On the other hand seeing the things coming down the pipe from the sewage plant in Maryland, I absolutely want an Assault rifle(or two), an hand gun, LOTS of ammo, well that list could go on and on but NEED? You know it.

An "assault rifle" is a full-auto weapon that is already regulated up the ying-yang.

What does that good ol' boy Rahm Emanuel say? "Never let a good crisis go to waste." No crisis handy? Make one. (Like the Mexican gun canard.)

1984 is late but it is still chugging away.
