THEN: Remarks in an interview with the Boston Globe in Dec 2007
"The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation. As Commander-in-Chief, the President does have a duty to protect and defend the United States. In instances of self-defense, the President would be within his constitutional authority to act before advising Congress or seeking its consent. History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch. It is always preferable to have the informed consent of Congress prior to any military action."
NOW: Remarks made in a radio address from Brazil (where he is on vacation ... AGAIN!)
"Today I authorized the armed forces of the United States to begin a limited action in Libya in support of an international effort to protect Libyan civilians."
Well, as I have pointed out a number of times, what this jackass says means NOTHING. You must watch to see what he DOES.

it doesnt even matter if a politician blatantly lies, or goes against his own words anymore. it just doesnt matter.
why not just campaign on the truth.
as [insert title] i will:
do whatever i want to do, especially to advance my own power and career, withut regard to law, rules, or morality.
say whatever i want to say, so long as it benefits me at the moment it's spoken.
The politician can count on a) a significant majority of the people didn't even see or hear him because they're too wrapped up in sports or celebrities, or b)being educated in public schools, those that DID hear/see him possess very little in the way of critical thinking skills, so they likely don't grasp the implications of the deeds or acts, and finally c) the pol KNOWS that the chronically A.D.D. afflicted American public will have forgotten all about it in a month's time any way!
George Washington warned us about foreign entanglements. Gen. Eisenhower warned us about the Military-Industrial Complex. Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson warned us about so-called Central Banks.
Robert Welch, founder of The John Birch Society warned us about all these and many others.
Like McCarthy exposing Communists working against us within our own government all of them have been laughed at.
Ben Franklin said, "We've given you a Republic......if you can keep it".
Turns out we can't, apparently.
Declaring war is hard work, and makes the decision to bomb people a lot harder; Congress is probably glad their predecessors abrogated the power a long time ago.
