Government always goes after flies with sledgehammers

Who has not heard by now of the kidnapped Jaycee Dugard found alive after being held for 18 years as a sex slave? It’s a hideous case to be sure.

But among sordid details of that case now coming to light is a report that at some point a neighbor called the police about tents being set up in the back yard where the Dugard girl was held. Police responded to the call but did not do a full search, not did they take note of his status as a registered sex offender. Consequently there was a chance to have ended her captivity that was missed. (Remember, even one of Jeffrey Dahmer’ victims almost escaped, and the cops delivered the drugged man back into the hands of his killer)

Clearly the cops dropped the ball here. But as in every instance where someone commits a crime of a particularly heinous nature, the government is certain to use that as leverage to enact new and intrusive legislation.

Look for there to be legislation in the near future (probably even called the Dugard Law) that will allow the police to walk right into your home without any sort of warrant – because some Gladys Kravitz type of neighbor hears or sees something in your yard they don’t like.

I’ve pointed out here before the ever increasing trend in America to spy and snitch on each other. Stalin and his KGB would sure be proud of how far America has come!
