My ole man would have said, "That's the pure devil!"

WAMPUM, Pa. – Fifth-grader Jordan Brown boarded the bus and headed to school like he does most other mornings in this rural western Pennsylvania community.

But Friday was no typical morning. Before he left his rented farmhouse, authorities say, the 11-year-old fatally shot his father's pregnant fiancee in the back of the head as she lay in bed. He then put his youth model 20-gauge shotgun back in his room and went out to catch his bus, police say.

I would say that is a troubled youth. There's got to be a reason for a kid to do such a thing. Kids take a dollar out of mom's purse for candy. Kids leave their bikes out in the rain. Kids hit their little sister in the car. Kids do NOT just shoot their parent in the head. I'm not excusing this kid's actions. As a 5th grader he is old enough to KNOW what would happen...he's old enough to know it was wrong. I do think we need to understand why this happens though...because there IS a reason.

Now Jordan Brown is also being charged with the murder of the unborn child. But if he were an abortionist, he'd get off on THAT count.

And Gota, I think the reason is evident. My ole man called it correctly.

A kid doesn't just do that because he's jealous though. There was a breakdown in that family somewhere. The parents were probably so into their own lives they didn't take the time to know what was going on with their kids. In addition, what was that gun doing accessible to that kid without parental supervision? We have guns. Those guns and ammunition are NOT available to any of the kids. I don't think he should be tried as an adult either. A 5th grader is NOT an adult. High school...yes...elementary school NO.
