Speaking of Boston T Party

One of my favorite books:

ABOUT HOLOGRAM OF LIBERTY

Civic Belief #1: The Congress was given few specific powers. All else was left to the States and to the people under the 10th Amendment. Ample checks and balances protect the Republic from federal tyranny.

Civic Belief #2: The Federal Government has become so powerful only because despotic officials have overstepped their strict, constitutional bounds.

If #1 is true, then how did #2 happen?

"The Constitution has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it". Lysander Spooner, No Treason (1870)

Think about that. By either the Constitution's purposeful design or by its unintentional weakness, we suffer under a federal colossus which takes a third of our lives and regulates everything from alfalfa to xylophones. This is Freedom? So, why aren't Americans free? Perhaps we weren't really meant to be!

Great book. Explains the background behind the judicial oligarchy by which the scum Alexander Hamilton and his Clintonesque ilk set us up. . . .

The outcome might have been different if the word 'expressly' had been allowed to remain in several critical Constitution passages. Language is critical. If it's not expressly spelled out (e.g., Bill of Right) the enemies of personal freedom will walk right through.

...makes me want to pull Hamilton's statue down off its pedestal in front of the treasury building!

The problem, IMO, had its genesis with the courts. One example: 1914 Harrison Narcotics Tax Act. It's essentially the first big law passed that gave the Federal.GOV sweeping powers to enact and enforce drug laws.

It went before SCOTUS and they let it slide - public good or public safety, or some such crap. No matter that it isn't allowed by the Constitution, it was for our own good.

The start of the Nanny State. We're not smart enough as individuals to not take drugs and ruin our lives, so Nanny made the decision for us.

Then Nanny-creep set in and look what it has brought us.
